Psychology

Open Birdcage provides online psychology for individuals and couples. Before working together, you will be invited to an optional fifteen-minute Telehealth consultation to discuss your needs and expectations for therapy. Please contact us to arrange a consultation.

Standard session fees are $222 for a 50-minute consultation. If you have a Medicare Rebate, your out-of-pocket cost will be $125.35. Read below for Medicare and Private Health Insurance Rebates.
Couple session fees are $250 for a 50-minute consultation. Medicare rebates are not available for couple sessions, rebates may be available through private health insurers. Enquire with your insurer for details.

Medicare Rebates

You may be able to access Medicare rebates for therapy sessions if you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or Psychiatrist. This rebate entitles you to a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. As such, you will be out-of-pocket $125.35 per session. The full fee of $222 is paid by you in session with rebates processed directly for you by Open Birdcage. If you intend on obtaining a Mental Health Treatment Plan, please visit your GP prior to booking in your first session.

Private Health Insurance Rebates

If you have private health insurance you may be eligible to claim rebates depending on your level of care. You can claim directly with your insurer after your session. Please speak with your insurer for more details. You are unable to use your private health insurance if you are already accessing Medicare rebates for your session.
